Urb Schenk’s 1967 Ford Fairlane Build with LEED Brakes Disc Conversion
For many car enthusiasts, the first car is more than just a way to get from point A to point B—it’s where the passion begins. For Urb Schenk of Mount Vernon, Indiana, that passion started with a 1967 Ford Fairlane.
It wasn’t the sleek two-door fastback he dreamed of at the time, but rather a four-door version that carried him through high school. Like many young gearheads, Urb spent countless hours under the hood of that Fairlane, swapping engines, carbs, and headers in pursuit of more speed and performance.
Over the years, Urb moved on to Chevy and GM trucks, but the dream of owning the exact Fairlane he had always wanted never went away. His vision was clear: a lime gold 1967 two-door fastback with factory air conditioning.
After years of searching with his son, Andrew (ProTourFox on Instagram), Urb finally found one in Utah. The car needed some work, but he was ready to dive in. The original 289 engine was replaced with a Blueprint 302, bringing plenty of horsepower to the table. But with more power came a new concern: could the stock manual drum brakes handle the upgrade?
That’s when Urb and Andrew turned to LEED Brakes.
“The install went as smooth as could be,” Urb shared. “In just one Saturday, my son and I had the drums off and the new Leed calipers, rotors, and pads installed. Once we bled the brakes, the car stopped exactly the way I hoped it would.”
Andrew and Urb installed LEED Brakes' MaxGrip Lite 4 Piston Front Disc Brake Conversion with Black Calipers 62-69 Ford Fairlane.
The conversion didn’t just add the stopping power he needed—it also gave the Fairlane a sharp new look. Fresh discs and calipers replaced the old drums, complementing the car’s performance and style.
Since then, Urb has continued refining his dream car. He’s added a rebuilt transmission, new suspension parts, an upgraded exhaust, custom wheels, and even a console with a stereo and cupholders. Each update improves drivability while keeping the Fairlane’s classic character intact.
Most importantly, Urb now enjoys his Fairlane with confidence, knowing it’s safe and reliable for cruising with his wife, kids, and grandchildren.
“I’ve got the Fairlane I always dreamed of,” Urb says proudly. “And now it’s ready to enjoy for the rest of my life.”
